Everyone spends time search for the savings account or certificate of deposit with the best interest rate, but did you know checking accounts can offer high rates, too? At Alliant Credit Union, consumers can earn a great checking account rate of 1.50% APY with the High Rate Checking account.

This checking account is free, though there are a couple of requirements to earn the advertised rate. In addition to being a member, the account holder must opt out of paper statements and have at least one monthly electronic deposit.

Alliant Credit Union was founded in 1935 by a small group of United Airlines employees. It offers membership to anyone who is employed by a qualifying organization, lives or works in a qualifying Chicagoland community, a member of the Orphan Foundation of America or is a blood relative of a member. It is the seventh largest credit union in the U.S., based on asset size, with over $7 billion in assets and 250,000 members. The credit union’s fiscally conservative policy and prudent management has enabled them to disburse over $172 million dividends to members so far. Alliant is located in Chicago, Illinois.
